Mission

"Learn from my past, work hard in my present to succeed in my future."

Our Program

McPherson embraces Napa Valley Unified School District's mission of transforming lives by instilling 21st century skills and inspiring lifelong learning in every student.

McPherson is an AVID Elementary site where all K-5 classrooms utilize WICOR strategies: Writing to Learn, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading to Learn.  Additionally, Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) helps students acquire academic language through cross-curricular units.
Daily lessons and projects are aligned to Common Core standards.  Teachers work in Professional Learning Communities to review student work to inform instructional decisions and analyze student assessments to measure academic growth.

We encourage our parents to volunteer in our school and welcome parent input on school-wide decisions through our parent organizations.  McPherson offers has a Family Resource Center located on site that provides family resources, parent classes through Napa Valley Parent University, and coordinates parent volunteering.  Our parents can also participate in leadership roles through our School Site Council, ELAC/DELAC representative, Title I Representative, Superintendents Advisory Representative and Parent Teacher Organization.
